No, there is just a lack of players, it seems mostly there are only four.

No winner yet, try again. (as if you expected the 2nd post to win).

Well, we DO have the occasional Guest contestant, like Bymark, swiftmallard*, and Tiger@switzerland, to name a few.

But for the most part, it IS pretty much just us.

WINNING!!!

Just did a video upgrade on this system.

It originally had a GT 9400 (16 cuda processors). When I upgraded the video card for another system, I took the GT 9500 card (32 cuda processors) and put it in this system. Unfortunately, the fan on that card was bad (I knew that already). I showed that to my wife and got the OK to get a GT 430 to replace it...$44.51 including tax AND a $15 rebate pending. Last one at my local store. Final price: $29.51 for 96 cuda processors!

I thought you guys in England liked warm beer?! I KNOW you HAVE cold beer but I thought you liked warm better, I now know what I have learned for today, must be time to go back to bed!

Randy that is a VERY good price! It turns out the 560 I just bought is a marketing scam and is a card with the same name as a really good car but mine is the bad one that has only 2/3 of it processors available! It IS 3 times as fast as the old one it replaced though, so I will keep it. My RAC on gpugrid is up to 52.5K per day so it IS better, and at only $200 before a $25 rebate I can live with it. I really got it because I think WCG is going to favor Nvidia cards when they bring out their new gpu project. I have NO proof, just a feeling.

WINNING!!!

Yeah, compared to the 9400 I was running originally, this new card is pumping through 3x as many cuda WUs.

John are you STILL looking for pci only cards? I was hoping you had upgraded to pci-e boards!

Hey Randy on gpugrid they have LONG workunits, as in 8 to 12 hours each, if you can finish them in less than 24 hours they give out DOUBLE credits, my RAC is up to 53k and still climbing. One hint though DO NOT be too close to the 24 hour mark as they have an error that if the Server even THINKS you won't make the 24 hour mark it sends it to someone else and you only get single credits, they are working on it but no solution yet!

If you want a PCI only card (NOT PCE-e), it's slow but it does krunch. I got 3 for my older units that only had 1 pcie-slot, so i could have more cards in the unit. So they have a faster pci-e card and a pci card, which will both run under boinc. A few extra kredits never hurts.

Try HIS HD5450 ()

I think Sparkle maks one too and the 5450 is the fastest you'll get in a pci card, which is way slow compared to pci-e, but if it is all you got, then that is all you can get.

I actually plan to upgrade some units at the office that have no pci-e slots, that we still use because they run some dedicated windows, pre xp or dos programs much better as a stand alone unit than trying to mix with another system.

---

So I awoke this morning freezing my ... off. It was rainging yesterday, still is, and the temp dropped to under 50F last night. I had the winderz open and a fan on suck to draw heat out as it was warmer yesterday. Closing the windows all but 1/2 inch and within 1/2 an hour its nice and warm in here, just on gpu power. No other heat pumps into my room unless the winderz are open and its warm outside, which it is not now, and it's raining. No yard w&*k today, aw, too bad.

Now back to gaming, Modern War. I play like 16 hours a day

---

Got a new bluetooth headset by LG, my 4th LG product. I had ordered a new bluetooth adapter but could not get it working, it would not see any devices, even my cell phone which could see the headphones. So i tried again today to get it working, the adapter that is, no luck, DOA. So i tried my 5 yeear old d-link adapter never used, seVen found it, added software and then when i turned my headphones on, they worked within a minute.

These are smaller, the band part, very flexible hangs around your neck. then you plug in each ear, or one ear, an earbud style piece attached to the band. I can hear, over the purr of computer fans, very well, now my audio running on computer #2, at aa very low volumn, much better than the sound commping from the tv at 1/2 volume that blasts so loud you only hear the car crahses, explosions but still can't understand the mumbling actors.

LG products always amaze me, I want more of thier stuff. Got Bluray, Smart HDTV, Washer and now the headphones.

Another kool thing is now seVen has separate volume, so the main speakers on the LED monitor are turned down but the bluetooth headphones are turned up, so i only hear through the headphones and don't hear an echo, echo, echo.

I still have several other pairs of over the ear headphones, connected and working, but wanted something ligher and smaller. I think these will do nicely and they can recharge off usb. I haven't tried yet but want to see if they will operate while plugged into usb, if they do i'll get a couple longer cables so i can plug in while i'm at the desk, and one over by my bed for nighttime use.

I've got a 4 port usb charger adapter by the bed, as i use the ipad there a lot and ahve a 6 foot cable for it so i can plug in and not totally drain the battery. Another cable at my desk and at work so it can run thre too and only use battery when i take it to the kitchen. I've got no shortage of usb ports and try to get devices that can run or charge off usb, so i have like only 2 wall adapters plugged in, a lot of other things i have all jack into usb somewhere.

John you just need some new motherboards!!

Keith I don't care for the 'in the ear' headphones, they make my ears hurt, but I too have a pair of blue tooth headphones and LOVE them!! No wire getting in the way as I move around. In fact my wife wants to borrow them on her next trip for the plane!, they are not 'two way communications' so they should be okay. Mine are not LG though!

Oh and Keith welcome to WINTER!!! It is 27F here at my place right now only going up to a high in the high 30's to low 40's today! BUT going up to 70F on Thursday!!! I can deal with short cold snaps then warming up again, but 70 might be a bit much but we will see!

Randy I AGREE!! In one machine I actually have 2 pci-e cards and am thinking of doing it to 2 more machines!!

I kind of like the over the ear headphones, but they are heavy, even the lite ons, especially after an all day wearing, like on wee'ends. Then when trying to lay sideways in bed, i ahve to pop one off at some angle, which works, but not great.

The in the ear work better because they are lighter and it is easy to pop one out of you ear to lay on that side without it being in the way. However a problem has developed. Sometimes I get audio lag, the persos lips move, but no sound, then you get the sound. If I immediatly swith the source abck to speakers, it's fine, so it is something in the bluetooth driver routing. Maybe because the computer is running boinc on 3 gpu's plus the dvd video and the sound. I would liek to find a bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the audio jack on the back, that sound eliminate that lag. I can get it to go away by clicking a few times to turn the bluetooth off and on or something, but after some random minutes it comes back. Kind of annoying when watching a dvd, but if i listen to an audio book, no problem.

lunch is over, back to you know what, I'm ready to retire only I can't afford it.

I'm back to crunching Malaria Control again.

Yeah I too brought another pc over, I WAS crunching for Rosetta on all my non quad core, and above, machines, except for the laptop that ALWAYS crunches Malaria but they gave soooo many errors that it wasn't worth it, so I moved ALL my machines away from there. Mostly I went to Poem, crunching for Poem does NOT require version 7 of Boinc UNLESS you want to use your gpu, then it DOES require version 7.

Keith did you get an older Vizio bluetooth thingy? Hey I wanted to give you the latest on my stuttering sound on my Vizio tv, remember you said it was the older model sound card, well the tech came in and replaced the sound card, with the same model of course, and it is still doing it. I called Version FIOS and they said they would come look at it next. I am 6 weeks into the 2nd year of my warranty and MAY be able to replace it yet, but I MUST go thru the process to get to that point. I bought it at Sam's Club and did keep the receipt, although Sam's did look it up while I was in the store one day and they found it in their system and told me the process to get it replaced.

No I am jsut using an older bluetooth usb dongle, d-link, about 2007 vintage.

The problem is in the driver windoze choose to install. if the audio gets out of sink and i seicth from the stereo mode it is in, to either speakers or the mono audio on the bluetooth, it is immediately in sync. I clicked a few dozen times on different combos last night and it was working okay again after it reinstalled sevral drivers, but one driver it says fails. When i have time i'll try to find some differe3nt drivers. This is also why i wanted to buy a new one as it would have newer specs and maybe be more windows seven compatible. I can get another one for 18 bucks or so so its not a big deal thing. And as all computers cause pains, i'm use to having to finess stuff to get it to function.

I kind of have been ignoring my boinc stuff, i founfd this game, modern war, on the ipad and i'm addicted to it, playing all day and night. getting up at strange hours and playing for an hour. Carry the ipad to the kitchen so i don't miss a moment. There is some strqate3gy in it, i've been figuring that out as i like things that make me think. So it has been getting easier at some steps, but keeping the time schedule on schedule is a challange. You have buildings that pay game money at different intervals, 1,3,6,8,12,18,24,48 hours and i try to keep them in sync and in sync with other events i need to spend money on so the money all appears just as i need it so another player can't steel it from me. it is a challange. it is FUN.

That makes sense! I am not a gamer sorry!

Hey John I just saw this over at WCG:
£5 OFF an eBay purchase using PayPal - limited time offer
I've just been informed by my nephew that there is a time-limited deal to get £5 off an purchase from eBay paid for using PayPal. It's limited to first 50000 users and it has worked for us.

The special code CUKFB1 is inserted before you make your payment. Use is limited to first 50000 and can only be used once for each PayPal account.

Good luck!

Don't know if you are buying or even if it is a scam, but I KNOW you are looking for some mb's with pci-e slots, hint hint!!

Hey Mikey,

I sort of figured out the bluetooth problem thingy. It is the driver, not hardware. I just haven't looked for a newer one yet. Anyhoo I found a simpler solution until I fix it. When the audio gets behind, i push the pause button, there's one on the headset and wait for the audio to catchup and run out and a few seconds more, then hit un-pause and they are back in sync until the next event. I'm not sure what is the cause of the lag, it runs fine a while then there is a skip, stattic, skip, static and thenit gets off, but it is random time. i think some boinc thing sucking the life out of the gpus once and a while is the cause. It might only happen once any 45 minute show i'm watching. So its not too bad the way it is, jsut not ideal.

back to gaming....

Thanks are they cpu or gpu units, looks interesting. Oh and how long do the units take to run on average?

Keith that is EXACTLY what i have to do with my tv! You DO have a Vizio!! It is not as bas as my tv though, on my tv it can happen every 5 minutes on some channels! Sometimes it will even do it when I FIRST change TO the channel!! I think this is my last Vizio tv!!

My wife is heading out of town today, she will be gone for 10 days, that means 10 days of moving parts around in pc's to try and get more gpu's up and running!!

I AM DEFINITELY WINNING!!!

Wake up. I've been up an hour now, not counting the 3 times i got up between midnight and 5555am to do a few minutes of gaming. I take my game playing very seriously.

---

Corralizer has been around 6 months or so. I am a moderator there and was one of the first to volunteer for testing. Several of us volunteers helped them get up to spreed but it had few problems. I've been busy with getting these computers liquified so have neglected them for a while, i need to get back there. It does the same work as edges, but not duplicates. The app is pretty rock solid.

---

No Mikey I do not have a vizio. I might have got it fixed, by luck. This morning there was no soundf. so i deselected in the device services the 2 options. then suddenly it came up with 4 options after a new search. I reselected 2 of the 4 and it reinstalled a driver, yet again. The conflict might have been in having aall the options enabled, but one of those was not on the list so it didn't un-enable it correctly, if that makes sense. I'll see but so far 25 minutes it's been perfect.

Wake up. I've been up an hour now, not counting the 3 times i got up between midnight and 5555am to do a few minutes of gaming. I take my game playing very seriously.

Thanks to everyone about Corralizer, I guess I might move a few pc's over there shortly. I like the short units for my dual core pc's and need another project for my long term goal.

Keith that is pretty funny, I am glad it is working now, I now hope it KEEPS working!!

E@H (my primary project) is all out of cpu WUs. All the better for MCN as I've opened wide all my systems for here.

E@H is transitioning from one run to the next and is having problems with their algorithm. It's possible that they may have to trash all S6LV1 WUs processed since they started sending them this past week. I would hope they let us keep any credit granted...

It runs reliably on my i5 laptop but I cannot get it to run on my Phenom II x 3 desktop. I never did figure out why but all WUs always error out.

Mikey,

Ahh, It's mostly working. Funny iwatched 2 45 minute episodes, no problem. Then changed dvd. Next episode about mid way had a problem, when i walked to the kitchen. i have to walk down the hall, around the wall and frig, into the kitchen. At that point i'm jsut at the edge of range. It spuddered, but then in the kitchen audio was fine. Except whne i got back to my desk the lips were out of sync. I paused, waited, restarted vido and now the next 3 epsiodes have been perfect.

It seems to be that when bluetooth looses conenctivity, it pauses audio, but not the video. This is how it gets out of sync.

It is working much better as the 5 episodes i've watched without problem is the msotest. Before i restarted the driver thsi morning it wouldn't go a single episode without problem.

My goal is get all of my projects ABOVE Seti on the list! It is personal and just a goal, but it works for me!!

Keith that makes sense except for the pausing, that seems silly.

SwiftMallard I think it is running on a couple of pc's now, they didn't have any units when I signed up but they do seem to have some now, do they make them as needed? Right now they only have 1 unit available, I just got 2 a couple of minutes ago though!

John you sleep too much!!!

I lost an hour sleep last night, has anybody seen it ?

Write your congressman and tell them to stop this daylight savings time and playing with the clocks. The world is so 24/7 now that I bet it saves no money on electricity for anyone. All it does is confuse people. If busineess want to save money, let them open and clsoe an hour earlier, go from 8 to 4 instead of 9 to 5.

I didn't know last night was the time change, my internal clock does not adjust. I needed to get up before 6am, which i did, i got up at 5am by my clock, wasted 22 minutes then found out it was 6:22 am. See i'm confused now. Then I though with my gaming everything was more goofed up. it all runs on timers and i was trying to adjust. I blew a lot of income by not playing lst night. only problem now is everything in my game is moved ahead 1 hour, timers count down and do not adust for EST or DST. So actually i'm ok except now i have everything an hour early from the one timer so i have to wait another day adjsuting every single item another hour later. Yes, its really goofed me up.

And the cell company now has 6 minutes differnce from internet time, huh ??? Which one is right ???

@Mikey, yes the pausing is silly but the only thing that works. When I pause, it pauses the DVD video and audio, but the audio i'm hearing in the headphones is buffered, so I have to wait for it to paly out, there is no buffer clear button. Then after it plays out, resume will have the video and audio in synce because there is no buffered audio backlog, the LAG, the occurs. with audio only, like music, no one notices that. Bluetooth is good in some ways but in one it S......

DST is for the farmers now, they don't want to be getting up at 4 am just so they can be in the fields by 5 am when the sun is coming up. If the time didn't change they would get no late night tv shows watched during the Spring thru Fall time frame as if the networks didn't change Letterman, or whatever, would come on to late to watch! The old saying is "times change" well you just saw one and will see ANOTHER one in the Fall, but then you will get an EXTRA hour of sleep. In your case I guess you will FIND the hour you just lost!!

Hey I just got 'finished' moving gpu's around and hopefully have everything working better. Prior to just now I had a spare AMD 5770 laying around not getting any credits, I moved gpu's from 4 machines and it is now paired up with another 5770 in one machine. That should crank out the credits as I already have that setup in a different machine, now I have two machines with dual gpu's in them! I TRIED to put two of my 5870's in two different machines but they physically won't fit, I might need some new cases in the future. The 5870's are now one to a case!

Windoze is a pain. I was sitting here working and then somehow my keyboardd broke, sort of. Cound not type, nor on the numeric keypad it was pluged into. But every time I pressed a key on either I heard a faint click from the monitor. Then thinking the usb bus crashed, but the mouse still worked and the wireless receiver for it is plugged into the same numeric pad as it has two usb ports, so that meant usb was still working. So after trying the keyboard on another system which it worked fine, several reboots and 55 wasted minutes porking around in settings here and ther, i found something odd, if i tried to change the repeat rate and test it, if I held down a key for a long time I got one letter. Then I found stupid windows had some3jho9w turned on something called "Filter Keys" which does weird things, one was to not repeat keys and only accept a key as valid if held for 2.0 seconds. Who types that slow. Some krap so you don't accidentially mistype, must be for people typing with thier big toe. Well now I can type, ah well at least input keys, back to work.

Me today 3,975,445!!! I am pedaling faster and faster, oh and that is just so far today! Actually what I did was move some cards around hopefully making them perform better and then I moved some from one project to another, making each card perform even better.

CONGRATULATIONS Randy!!!!

John I know that Zydor is beyond my reach, just like I know I am beyond yours, but in the end all it really means is we are hopefully getting closer to finding the answer to the questions the different projects are asking! It just means we are crunching faster to get to the same goals, it does NOT mean that because I am crunching faster than you are that I will get the ONE workunit that has the answer to the question! It just means we GET to that question quicker, so SOMEONE can crunch it! It could be the guy who just attached his very first pc and is crunching his very first unit, or any of the other thousands of people crunching for a particular project. To me it doesn't matter, someone just needs to crunch THE unit so the answer can be found. Now does an answer often lead to more questions, yes that is how our human brains work! In short John NO ONE is losing, we are all helping in our way working toward a common goal, some give everything, some give everything they can and some just give what they can!

Ok enough Philosophy......I am WINNING!!!

Now like monday I wore long sleeve to work, but by the end of the day needed short sleeves. I may have to carry a change of closes with me now, the weather here changes 20 degrees from morning to afternoon.

We had uppers 70's, maybe even 80's yesterday. I did wear short sleeves to work, wish I had also worn shorts.

Almost needed to turn the A/C on yesterday evening too, but now the heat is running this morning.

What's next ?

ps
Got electric bill.
Used 2487kWh in Jan, 2216 in Feb and 2170 Now (Compared to Max of 3600 in Sept, that A/C eats a lot)

2170kWh is for 29 days so used 74kWh per day or 3.11kW per hour.

Each of the two computers use about .9kW, so roughly 2/3rds of my electic bill is a boinc donation. Everything else running is only 1/3rd.

Yup mine is a bit more but similar, my electric bill is twice my neighbors and our situations and homes are very similar. Computers ARE expensive to donate with! Of course I have more older pc's than you do and they are not nearly as efficient as the newer ones.

Well Mikey, depending on your bill, you MIGHT be able to justify retiring some of those older PCs and replacing with one or two new ones, especially if they came with some high-powered GPUs...hint; hint. The decrease in electric cost might pay for the new systems if spread over a year or two.

Yes you are CORRECT but Mrs Mikey is in Hawaii right now, and I am NOT!!! She took the 2 boys as a graduation present and one of the boys girlfriends went along too. My oldest son became a PHD at the end of last month, several months early, while the other was supposed to graduate with a Bachelors degree this summer but it is now pushed off until December/January. 5 is a crowd and since all my wife does is take bagillions of pictures OF THE SAME FLOWER before she moves to the next one, and all I see are a BAGILLION more just like it, we don't do that together! In short she will OWE me big time when she gets back next week, it is a 10 day trip, I may be FORCED to buy some new parts and upgrade some more pc's! After all it is OUR money!!!

John are you REALLY running those? If so we NEED to upgrade you into the 20th Century, let alone the 21st Century!!!

HoTTT !!! It is 80 F plus degrees today. It's not even spring yet. At least I wore shorts today.

---

The good news is the beach bunnies ahve come out of hiding some. I saw some earlier this week. Today I haven't seen any as they probally all are on the beach.

---

Sales report. It's busting. Today being about the middle of the month, I should be 50% of my average done, I'm 77%. Even last month which I took 10 days off hit 78% instead of the expected less thqan 66% (20 out of 29 days) That was amazing. I'm exhausted. Wake me when it's fall again. zzzzzzz

To me it looks like a spaceship cruising thru a brownish Universe with a bright light a the end.

Keith maybe if you show the boss the numbers he will give all of you guys a raise, or hire someone else to help out.

John I KNOW you are pulling our legs now!!!!

Oh and YES I am alone with my pc's this weekend. My left last Friday and won't be back until late Monday sometime. The Formula 1 season has started though and the first race is in Australia, which means very late nights for me as so far the practice and qualifying sessions and have come on tv at 1:30AM and lasted 90 minutes each. The race comes on tonight at 1:00AM but it will last at least 2 hours and could last up to a max of 4 hours. These times are all East Coast US times, John there gets them in a more time friendly time!

Todays mission half accomplished. I need to supplement the a/c with a window (not microshaft) unit. I had thunk on it a while, all winter. I had picked out a small one online, but decided to go up to home depot and see if there was something good there. Got about the same thing, size wise, only 60 buckes cheaper than online, i guess becuase mostly of shipping. I even got a good brand "LG".

Now for the harder part of trying to fit it in the window. First I got to get hte screen out, it was stuck and to get to the little tabs i have to fold the window in, but i have a bookself in the way. If i cvan get the screen out without moving everything i'd be happy.

Got the window a/c unit installed. Came out rather good considering I didn't use the install kit or those flimsy side adjusttable panels you get with one. Installation went rather smoothly and took not very much time, no surprises along the way.

I still had my exhaust hose from the gpu's to route out which i alraedy had a custom made panel with a 6 inch dryer vent in it, but this ran side to side across the window. I could have just put that across the top of the a/c, raising the window up more. What I decided was to cut it and make it two shorter verticle pieces that fit on each side of the a/c. There still is actually room below the one vent to add a second vent if i needed. This piece is 6 inches wide. I had then enough left over to make a plate for the other side, but that required also cutting 1/2 inch off the long side so it was only 5.5 inches wide. The a/c is off center but not by much and not noticiable. These fit so tight side to side they were holding the a/c in place. Made it easier to figure out where the brackets then would fit. You're supposed to measure and mount the brackets fisrt so the a/c is centered. Also too it had a notce in the bottom, between the bracket piece and part of the bottom that stuck down some, this fit over the window frame edge to keep it from sliding in or out. After that, close the window and I made new security bars to hold the window shut. These are small strips of wood fit into the side channels, can't fall out and not very noticible, especially since i covered them with white duct tape and the window framing is all white.

Now I ran the a/c on 80F yesterday. I was too kold. It blows on me a little about arms length away and it blows sort of on the two komputers about 18 inches away, the vent is exactly at the level between the two units. It has vents that can angle, but nor enough. I may make some sort of deflector, or see if I can remove that grill and adjust (break) the thing so it deflect more toward the komputers.

Side benefit is it also filters dust out of the air. i have to clean the filter twice a month it says, I think more. The beach is a very dusty environment.

Another wierd thing, the ice in my drink yesterday was not melting as fast as usual. However my koffee is not steaming hot anymore. Solve one problem only to create another.

I slept with the a/c off and was not too hot. Only at the moment have one window open with the double exhaust fan running, to suck heat out. Too abd I can't open the other windows now as it is 56F outside, but also that leprachaun has his magic green dust floating around everywhere. I don't need more dust inside. However it was hot over here by the computers at my desk. Temp shows 85F so I turned the a/c abck on.

Wierd thing yesterday was the temp dropped from in the 80F's to 50's. We had this fog rolling in off the ocean. Think clouds rolling down the street. I could not see the highway which is not even a 1/4 mile up my street. They too were sort of greenish. Just like in that movie. I locked my dorrs and hid in the back of the closet.

As a supplemental a/c this is doing well. it says it is suppsoe to cost $45 a year to run. Not bad and i don't even have it kranked up yet, jsut on about the lowest kool it can put out and in energy saver mode too. It finally is somewhat kool in here, while the heat runs in the rest of the house. I feel too now i can rebuild those other three komputers with new gpu's (liquid kooled) but heat from the psu's won't be a problem as i have the a/c to cut it down.

Keep kOOl...

That little outage over at E@H sure put a spike in my MCN numbers. I went from an average of 1500-1600 credits/day to a peak of 7500 credits. Back closer to normal now at 1550-1700/day. I'm going to leave one of my systems fully open to MCN that was only part time earlier...

Well I discovered that when my LCS leaked before, a bunch ran down into one of my dvd drives. Fortunately it didn't get further down into my 4 hdd stack, directly under that. Well the drive ejects and closs fine, but won't paly a thing. I don't think it spins up. Well i've been using my external usb drive, but that gets hot after multi hours of operation. So today i swapped the dvd drives from komputer one and two, as on one I don't watch dvds. If i need to load software i can use the external. I really like those drives, barely used. They came off the old twins which at one time were Gateways. The drive had a bowed out front and was grey/silver color. Well sitting on top of the cooler master black/grey/black hdd stack, it matched in nicely. Same color as the grey band and the hdd stack is bowed out some too. Lloks almost like they came out of the same unit. Not like I really need another one, i've got 6 more spare older dvd drives, well 5, i think one of those doesn't work either, on the other three computers. But some are not writeable and some slower. So anyway I decided to lOOK for a pair of repalacements that are newer faster and maybe sata interface.

I found some really good LG brand.

Then I found this weird stuff. One has M-DISC ???

The M-DISC uses a patented rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your records. The unique materials used in the M-DISC require a new disc drive technology to engrave data on the surface.
The M-DISC and the LG Super Multi Drive has been designed and optimized to work as one to etch data into the permanent synthetic stone layers within the M-Disc.

It also said they last 1,000 years. i don't think i'll need my backups to last that long.

What, writing on rocks. I guess we're going back to the stone age.

I don't think i need that model. not any more than a regular blu-ray/dvd burner, but the discks wer 3 times the cost and only 4.7GB capacity vs 25/50GB for blu-ray.

Still, what will they thunk up next ?

That is VERY good to hear!!! Temps here are in the mid to upper 70's most days with nights in the 50's, so a/c during the day then windows open at night to cool it off!

Keith I have had a window a/c unit in my upstairs computer room for several years now. They are not allowed by the homeowner regs, but I back up to the woods and my neighbors don't care or complain. I keep it on low cool most of the time but flip it to just fan sometimes when it is really cool or cold outside. It is not real good about bringing outside air in, it is more of a recirculating type thing. It does keep the room cool though and the cold air does spill out into the hallway keeping the whole upstairs somewhat cooler.

Yeah I hadd a small one before in my other house. It was in my computer a/v room. I clsoed off the hall to the main room with a blanket made into a curtain. then on low it kept my computer and electronics room very kool and also my bedroom across the hall kool. I didn't kool most of the rest of the house, just fans running to pass air trough. A lot of the time i was almsot freezing with it on low. It hadd to 6000 or 8000 btu's.

This one is 6000. Strange the next one up was like 8000 but also could do heat. Nice idea but i did not need that. My komputers put out too much already.

When i reworked the vent yesterday i made a small change. I put a short hose on the vent. Then between that and the hose coming off all the computers radiators, i added another computer fan. took two of the hos conenctions i took off boxes. this is esentially a 5 inch flat plat with a round part to attach a hose around. there is a small lip on the inside i had to cut off, and bust a finger open on. ouch-ouch. So anyway i took two of those, cut off the inside lip, as it hits the fan. took the 120mm fan and stuck it btween the two and taped them together. now i have an extra fan and if needed, can uncouiple the hoses and turn the fan around. this fan helps suck air through the hose from the other fan jsut abouve all the gpus boxes. I figured some more help exhausting the hot would help.

Still with the liquid kooing of 6 gpu's and two cpu's, and all those vent through 1 radiator each which vents into a box. each box is stacked and then hose coupled. the fans on those pull room air in and any heat goes into this sealed system. although the hose is really thin and the palstic boxes radiate heat out too. but still all that and just two psu's which don't put out that much heat, it can get hot in here. the a/c is helping.

Actually last night i hadd it off, but turned it back on this morning, but the main heat is running in the rest of the house. I would open the windows again but i don't want green dust everywhere. it's weird to be running the a/c when it is 55ish outside. I've got it set at 80F and low fan and it cycles on and off, the temp does however show 84F on my thermometer sitting just on top of the a/c unit. In energy save mode, it runs a little then turns off, then in 3 minutes i turns on again to check the temp and if necessary runs some more.

I'd like to run it one month this way and see the electric bill.

I'm pretty much going to keep my door closed all the time, except to walk in and out, and treat my room as a seperate zone from the rest of the house. Let the main a/c-heat control that area and my a/c-computers control my zone. I can let the roomamte adjsut them temp so he is comfortable downstairs and i'll control my temp. Everybody wins.

Keith I am a good air dryer kind of guy!

Randy it is headed for nearly 80F here today, and the rest of the week too! Saturday and Sunday though are supposed to be cooler and next week highs as of now will only be in the mid 60's all week.

Have YOU ever sit down backwards on a bidet? If not then you just haven't tried the finer points of it! The new Japanese toilets have them built in and there are add-ons for American, and everyone else, toilets too! After washing that particular area it needs a good drying, a towel just seems silly so a hair dryer seems the right thing to use. Orrrr if you fee like you are still 20 and walk around naked you could just walk around until you 'air dry'! It is not whether you are "shaggy" or not, it is whether you like dripping water everywhere or not.

On another subject. I'm pooped. My sales have hit 107% of average. This will be my second best internet sales month, and there is still 1 week to go. Remember too that now we are on the upslope of sales until about August. I don't think I'll be able to keep up or stay awake.

Since I drive a Prius, with an add-on battery pack...yes. But not for pleasure. I get no pleasure from spending $$$ on oil. Wish I had an all-electric.

WINNING!!!

The Federal gas tax is $0.184 per US gallon. Michigan gas tax is $0.19/gal. If you paid ONLY for the oil plus the US taxes...how much would gas cost you then?

The UK price is £1.54 per litre = $2.43 per litre. The Fuel tax and 20% VAT (Sales Tax) on the oil price + profits + Fuel Tax works out at 65% of the pump price. So, making this up to a US gallon @ 3.79 litres you can work out how much the Treasury gets for each gallon of fuel it the US was as here.

People in the US are always complaining about high taxes. They (we) have no idea what high taxes REALLY are like!

Since I fully retired, when I got laid off 2 years ago, I have lowered my car insurance costs as I do not drive as much anymore. I am now down to a mostly once a week luncheon that is about 60 miles round trip. My Honda Pilot is now sitting much more than it was, but still gets in the mid to upper teens for the mpg when I am driving it. Randy they are talking about raising the local gas taxes in some States to make up for some shortfalls they are having, Maryland is one of those thinking about it and is waaaay to close to me in Virginia!!

I neglected to mention that Michigan has a 6% sales tax added to the cost of gas too. You just don't see it because all those taxes are pre-calculated and rolled into the price you see at the pump.

I wish I could bicycle, I would bicycle to work, except I messed my knees when I was 18 doing too much, and now i could not go a mile without pain setting in, it's many more to work.

I had be thunking of moving, within 1 mile of here. Would be my luck then the boss would move the business another 18 miles down the road. My brother is within walking distance of his job and walks, i think it was about 3 miles, most days.

I haqd my first website order today. That started in January. Still working on setting things up, but items have been appearing in the search engines and i put a comment on every amazon order. After i get some more stuff done, there eventually will be more items only available in the webstore that i do not put on amazon. I'l lalso be able to lower some prices a little, as the percentage fees are lower, try to encourage people to shop in the webstore instead of amazon. And sale now have hit 113% of average. It's gonna be a record month. My next goal is to break that number one record month before it gets to August, which is when it was last year.

The Verizon guy, came at my request, and replaced the hdmi cable with a component cable, it has only been 2 hours but NO STUTTERING so far!!! Also the volume is at a much lower than normal level and I can hear it just fine, may have been the cable all along!!!

Also I found some Cooler Master cases on sale that will handle the bigger gpu's and ordered 2 off of Amazon on Wednesday, they arrived on Thursday!! I will be moving some 'parts' around soon.

I'm back

Both units power up okay. Installation was not too difficult. To make things easy the drive which is sata, came with a 4 pin to sata power adapter. Since i unplugged and ide drive with 4 pin power, this made it easy to jsut use the adapter. I do have sata power connections, but 4 are in use and to do one more meant to plug in another cable on the modulaar psu. Using the adapter was easier.

My mobo has 4 sata channels. The 6GB channel is my data drives. one 3GB channel is my c drive with a mirror drive. eSata is another channel and then the last channel ahs 6 sata ports. So far i'm using one of those for the blu-ray drive.

My boinc runs on a separate hdd, b:, which is on the ide channel, now by itself. However i may after i check my stock, put in another ide drive to move my music collection to which at the moment is on an exteral drive on the usb bus. I'd rather keep it off the c drive so backups are smaller and keep it off the data drives since those have a backup of the colelction. The usb drive works fine, but i think though i'd like it on a permanant type drive.

Then i proceeded to do some software updates.
Windows 7
NVIDIA Drivers for the two GTX570's
EVGA Precision Software - control panel for GPU's. Kool new feature. Before i could only control the twp EVGA GPU's. New version also lets me control the ATI HF6990. Not only that i can now have all three gpu temps and loads dispalyed in the system tray, insted of just the two. KooL.
Next was ATI Drivers
Then I added iTunes so I can link to my iPad
Then I added the Cyperlink DVD software, some LG software and whatever else came on the dvd with the drive.

So then i try to watch a dvd using the cyperlink software. this stunk. the dvd was stutttttering vidddeo and audio clicked and crackled. so i stopped it to see what's the matter. jsut out of curiosity i tried windows media player which i had been using before but not yet on the new drive. it palys fine, no studdering viddeo or audio problem. Maybe later i'll try the cyberlink again, meybe it just needs some software settings adjusted.

--

Now back to the garden.
I put my deadish pepper plants out. there was one green one, I thought. When i moved them i noticed three or four green ones, with leaves and baby peppers started already. they were grouwing up near the sweet potaot leaves hanging in the window so i didn't notice thenm before.

Besides that i've got a big pot or two with liek 200 little ones started. I notice 3 watermellon plants had popped out and the avacado plant is about a foot tall and starting leaves. Too many other things to mention but it's growning good.

Today is very nice outside

Don't know what I got. They were some seeds in a spagetti gift set, the seeds and some leaves were decoration. I palnted them to see what happened. Mine are small red hot ones, about 1-2 inches long.

I planted a bunch of seeds that had survived in peppers still on the plant stalks through the winter.

For my bell peppers, i used a mix. One pot is seeds from 2010. They all came up. one pot is seeds from 2011, they all came up. In the pots with mostly dead stalks i put in seeds that were in shrivled up peppers still on the plants. Some were all moldy inside, but a lot of the seeds seemed good. I jsut put them down, but there was one that was growing out of one that fell off. They should come up. I'm gonna move those old stlaks, dirt and all but the pot, into the ground beside the stairs. Then refill the pots witha mix of other old soil and new and transplant all those I already got started. Some of those old stalks are still alive and three already had started growing leaves and peppers again.

But not today is it has been cloudy, a little sprikly and cooler wit ha wind that makes it just not "shorts" weather.

I've got a lot of transplanting, moving and arranging to do, hopefully starting next week-end.

Oh and i got a big package of flower seeds in the mail. Jsut in time as I had not gone out to buy any and my flower seed colelction might be getting low. I'e got some other things stashed away, maybe i'll plant those too this year and see what's up.

Today I got stuck indoors, had planned for my tri-decade car washing. That is I was it once every three years, and this year is the year. So indoors i did a lot of stuff. One thing was to take all those screws, nuts, washers out of some little drawer cabinets. Each section got stuck in a small zip lock bag. I bought like a 500 for 2 bucks or some rediciouls amount. Now all those sit in 1 drawer somewhere else and i can get those 3 small cabinets out of the back of the closet, where they took up more room than needed. Reduced the space to about 1/3rd of what it was. I've got one more to do that has a bunch of audio and video connectors in it. That will go quicker but maybe later, i'm tired and need a kat-knap. Those cabines were nice when i had a workshop, but i don't do a lot of stuff like that anymore. I've maybe used a few screws out of that collection 3 times in 10 years.

Anyone needs some cabinets ?
Two have 15 drawers, one has 25 and the other todo ahs 25 but is a little different style than the first three. They ahve tose little drawers about 1" high by 1.5" wide by 3" deep with several adjustable dividers. I don't think i'll ever use them again and i may have more somewhere in the garage which needs to be emptied out. I need to start going through stuff and selling off what i can. i ahven't used most of that stuff in 15 years and probally won't ever again.

Hard to believe i've been at the beach for 15 years. Time flies when you're having fun. Only wish I could remember what fun was, seems like most of it was that W thing.

Oh it's raining again.... what a not so fun day....

time for some southern komfort and a little koke, or is that a little koke and some southern komfort ?

Yeah Those are refresh.

CTRL-F5 is different, called hard refresh, refreshes even if the timestamp at server and on your rig are the same.

What variety are you planting?

Caribbean Red Hot Peppers
http://www.reimerseeds.com/habanero-hot-peppers-caribbean-red.aspx

I plant them at the top of the steps leading onto my deck, the squirrels often stop there first and then don't like the taste so do not go onto my cherry tomatoes further down.

Ahhh but it sounds like you actually EAT yours, I would NEVER eat mine!!! The ones I grow are strictly to keep the squirrels away from my tomatoes, and to give to friends that think they can handle heat! Mine typically have a Scoville rating of 400,000, most Habanero's are typically in the 50,000 to 60,000 range, the higher the number the higher the heat. I gave 4 or 5 of mine to an Asian lady where I used to work who everyone said LOVED hot, spicy food and would love them. They were WAAAAY too hot even for her, and she only tried a tiny, tiny bit in a salad. A Hispanic guy thought he liked hot peppers too until he tried mine, they are just too hot to eat!!! This will be my first year trying them from seed, usually I buy them at the store as plants and plant two plants in one planter and use Miracle Grow dirt to grow them in, then at the end of the season I recycle them into my compost pile, dirt and all, and start over in the Spring.

Randy that is nice..."growcery store"!!!

Who did what where ?

Another slammin day at the 'ol factory. I made a mistake before when i said I had my second best month so far, it was only the third....but sales have been so slammin, now I have passed that and it is now the second best. Still 3 days to go to rac 'em up.

We sell this stereo unit. Last year I sold 13. I told the boss they were hot but we probally didn't sell as many as we could becuase he didn't keep them in stock enough. So after I got back from vacation i got him to order some more but not as many as i wanted. He only got 6 and when they came in he told me, let him know when half where gone. i did so three days later. On day 8 I ran out, which was last friday, but 6 more where do in Monday, again not as many as I told him to get. I put the 6 up for sale knowing i could fill any orders. I sold 3 over the weekend and then another one late monday the day they came in, so there already is only 2 left. Locally he has sold 0 since the first order of 6. Actually i sold some of his before vacation, i'm at 14 for the year. I told him we needed these now as its tax refund time and also early spring, people have extra money and spring fever and we should take advantage of it. He didn't listen to me very well (yet again), but selling 10 of 12 in two weeks speaks for itself and i'm still wrong. Now he has ordered 10 more for me. I bet they go quickly too, heck i'll run out of the two left before those come in and can put the 10 up for pre-order. thing of it is if he ordered in the first place the 22 I told him to order we would have gotten free delivery and been another few bucks ahead.

Like they say, stupid is as stupid does.

Talk about yer crazy weather. It looks like I'm gonna have to get the mower out this weekend.

I don't think I've ever cut the grass before May 1 up here, but I might have to cut it before the end of March this year.

High tomorrow 65F and mid-50sF the rest of the week.

Oh many times I have mowed in March and then all the way thru Christmas in December!! Last year I got a company to do it and since my grass is tall now I called them yesterday and they said they will be out on Thursday just like last year! Woo Hoo that means I do NOT have to do it myself!! Believe me that is a good thing!!

Keith maybe the boss is worried about buying too many and then having them just sit on the shelf when something new comes out. Can you convince him to do pre-orders and then order them once a week for those orders that come in, kind of like you just being the middle man. Maybe your supplier will even ship them to the customer for you, getting them to the customer faster.

No. Unfortunately on pre-orders I still have to give an exact shipping date in advance when they will ship. I can't depend on the manufacturer to ship on time and be able to meet the deadline or the boss to roder them when i tell him to. I only do preorders on confirmend incomming shipments, plus i usually add 2 days in case and then when i ship early i look like a miracle worker.

Still slammed with orders. I had like 4 for this morning, then it was really quiet. 1 Came in at a few minutes til 3. About 2:45 is my cut off to go to the post office. I had time to do this one as not much else going on at that moment. When i finished it there were 2 more orders in process, means they have been placed but not authorized by the credit process. I get advance notice sometimes. I could not wait on those, went to the po. When i got back those 2 had come in and a nother was pending. So by the time i left work there were 4 orders for me to do first thing tomorrow, plus whatever else comes in tonight. I usually don't have that many that late in the day. Most of my orders come in after hours. A few during the day sometimes. Never 4 in 2 hours, well until today. I'm at about 140% of average. Still 2 more days to go for #1. I might get clsoer but it's not likely i'll break it. My cut off for the month would be 3pm Friday. Any orders after that will roll over to next month, as i go by when they are actually processed and billed.

Time for dinner and then bed.

Must be cloudy and stormy and your 'new' satellite internet isn't working well eh? Don't worry so much John Randy and SwiftMallard keep sending me the clouds and I just forward them on to either you or Keith! It isn't personal, it is just that it is either me or you and I don't want them either!

Keith you must be selling those things really cheaply, as long as the orders are coming in like that though hopefully the boss will keep ordering them.

Are you? If you didn't make a trip to Baltimore county in the past few days you didn't win much. AND you'd have had to buy a ticket up there.

But you didn't, did you? So like the rest of us, today is just like yesterday and only one person (me!) is...

Don't worry, I can fix anything. Your broken win will be fixed shortly and the game can go on. As for fixing the other problems, the're on the todo list and may take a little more time.

But while you're waiting, why not try again at WINNING !!!

---

I need more sleep. I got a good one last night but it doesn't feel like enough.

Today I've got to get on to some palnting, and get started on some transplants and moving a few palnts outside. Over the nnext few weekends i'll move some out each weekend. I think also there is some tree pruning to be done, I at least need to do the tree near the proch first so ant dropping braches won't endanger any plants since there are none out there yet in that corner.

I had fantastic internet sales this month. 2nd best month since I started in Nov of 2010. Hit 147% of the month average and 84% of the max month. Near the end of the day yesterday i had a couple more orders, but it would not have been enough to beat #1, I would have needed like 4 good ones, like that stereo, but since I only had 2 in stock not much chance of that. I did get an order for one stereo, and in fact already have 2 other orders for other things lined up already for starting next month. My goal is to beat the about 90 orders thsi month and beat the sales by at least a little and sometiem before august i want to beat the #1 record.

I am getting orders now from the new website, had about 6 total including a least one item that is on that website only and not on the other two stores. Yes i have 3 stores going, but really they are all the same except for some items are on the amazon side only and some on the wenbstore side only. I still ahve not transferred some so ther are some to move over. The ones on amazon now require a UPC code to be there. There are some i've got to move off, they can stay but can't be edited. Once i try to do that they dissapear, so the only thing i can do is move them. I was waiting for the webstore to appear more in search engines and know that it is i'll start moving them. At the same time though i've got to check all the details and pictures, so it is a slow process. I'm also adding new items, added about 6 and restocked about 6 more this last week. We have a lot of stock coming in and and i didn't even get to all of it. I'll be putting more in the webstore than amazon as the sales fee they charge is about 1/2, so i can have lower prices in the webstore and make out okay, lower prices might attract more people to it. Also there will be more items in the webstore that i can't list on amazon because those products are old or don't ahve the upc code, and never will. They uise that code for product matching and don't allow fake codes so people can't create duplicate listings. Some sellers do that so thier item can be cheaper and stand out as a single item with no competition. Duplicate items just confuse buyers and hurts sales for everyone. I myself have sometimes given up looking for something do to to many choices. Still there is a lot of things i need to do and little time. I've got to somehow convince the bossman to get some help to do other papperwork so i have more time to fix the webstore and run it which increases sales. I've laready had another 226 new custoemrs this year. All those are potential repeat customers, not jsut for items sold on the webstores, but they can call us o nthe phone for other sales or service work. So it is also a good "Free" advertising to have a webstore.

Hey Mikey, we're having an open house next month. The announcement is on our webpage meob.com. I didn't put that the Calendar Girls will be there dancing on my counter. Come by. If they can't make it due to weather, we'll at least be giving away free Calendars.

Oh well, it's a non-w day, so on to more fun things.

Oh, what another krummy day.

Its 50F and overcast again.

Yesterday it rained on and off. It was nice not being boiling hot while working in the garden. I got some done. dug a trench in the sand beside the stairway. took the 8 pepper pots and dumped them out, mixing all the soil around. A few of the pepeprs might revive and about 4-5 are still alive, one is actually already growing peppers. I also put down a layer of old stalks and leaves under the soil. Should decompose over time. After finishing that off I put a bunch of pepper seeds and tomato seeds in the patch. I figure the peppers can grow straight up, the 'toes can grow over to the stairs and i'll tie them off against the railing going up.

So today I awoke to a puddle of blue liquid. No it was not from the 'puters. It was in the bathroom under the washer and dryer ? Yes I was puzzled too. After my morning business I had to go get koffee and then figure this out. The big bottle of liquid soap deiced, under its own weight to burst a hole in the bottom and dribble down behind the washer, then run across the floor to the front. This is that expensive high efficiency stuff, so I lost liek 5 bucks worth. Now it is not easy to clean up. Good news is I put off washing clothes and then scrubbing the floors yesterday. So I was able to scooup up a couple of handfulls and dump that in the washer, the clothes are washing now. I then used the rest to scrub the floor, the bathtub, sink and toilet while trying to clean it all up. It was a mess but I got it down. At least I didn't have to clean an already clean floor, sometimes it is wise (lucky) to put jobs off. It's so clean in there now, if a piece of dirt falls, it will run away so it is not the only piece, dirt attracts to other dirt. My hands are raw though from hot water scrubbing trying to get this thick vicious soap off them. There still is some sopa under the washer, i wasn't going to move it but i can clean that up as it oozes out. I guess I could pour some water behinf=d the washer and flush it out, but i've already speant over an hour cleening and i'm tired again. I jsut clean up as what ever is left oozes out and if some doesn't and dries up under the washer, no big deal.

Today sucks so far and I can't even win. wahhhhh.

It was not too bad here, the wind was nil so the temp of 55F'ish wasn't bad, even in shorts.

I went out to water the pepper plants and seeds. Then I filled the emptied pots. I first put a layer of small sticks in the bottom, use last years dead things and cut up. Then some leaves. This makes a drainage layer in the bottom and keeps the soil in. Then i use some old soil. i have two big tubs of it. so i used a little in each pot from one, then some from the other tub which also has good bits of stuff in it like koffee grounds, egg shells and other food scraps. Adds some nutrients back in. Then i put some more from tub one. This way it gets mixed up miore. Finally i top off the last few inches with new soil. Gives the new plants a boost and doesn't use as much new soil to fill the bottom 2/3rds that sometimes the roots don't reach to, but if they do they can find some goodies down there. Then i put down seeds from bell peppers, 3 pots of 2011, 3 pots of 2010, 1 pot of mayber 2009 unmarked bag and 1 pot of bananna peppers from 2011.

Oops, i just realized i goofed, i put seeds in all those pots and i fogot i already have like 200 little palnts started in one big pot i was going to transplant and split them up. I may still do that but i'm gonna have like 10 bazillion perrpes this year.

I also worked indoors a lot today an one thing i did was clean up around the sweet potato vines and cut off any dead bits, untangled some. I'm thinking of keeping them in this summer, they get enough sun and it does make the windows look really pretty. Plus then i don't have to untangle 6 26 foot long vines, try to move all that outside and reloop it around the railings somewhere. I will though repot the other shorter plants and move them out.

Keith you are w*&king on your day off, no wonder you are pooped!! You have done waaay too much stuff and need to take a break!

As for too many peppers, just stop off at the farmers market, someone will buy them from you and then sell them as 'locally grown' and make a profit.

I'm down one unit.

Woke up this morning to find no fluid flowing in my main system. Spent 1/2 hour now to pull the controler/pump box out. Before repalcing the pump and shoving everything back I tested with spare pump, the spare did not run. So i pulled a spare brand new controller/box. Powered it up, theat pump ran. unplugged the pump and tired the spare, it ran. Tried the pump in the bad box and it ran, so it is the control board for the pump. Not an east change.

I'll have to abandon that box for now, and take apart the new box, reroute tubing and such to make it work for my system, i have to bypass the built in reservoir. This will take more time than I have now before work.

Also too the old pump was leaking eiter around the fittings or the seam in the pump. but not much but there is blue ooze all around it. I think that is garbage too. And since i've modified these, the manufacturer probally will calim it is not under warranty.

After work i have a big job, i need to get this back running and then hope the gpu's didn't burn up. I heard no alarm last night. the computer was on, but not running, no video on screen and, i'm hoping it turned off things and was not still running boinc on the gpus.

What another disaster.

I may be off for a while, who knows.

Randy my temps are similar to yours.

WINNING!!!

@Mikey, w@^king on a hobby (gardening) CAN be taking a break...depending on your POV. Of course, if you w@^k in a Garden Shop all day long, a home garden might not be something you ought to do to relax.

@Keith, real bummer on the cooling system problems. Hope you get it running soon and the GPUs are OK.

WINNING!!!

@Keith ... sorry to hear of your rig cooling problem. These things are sent to try us, and trying and extra work they become.

Now winning without a doubt.

Keith that is why I have never taken the big step to liquid cooling, but I have had problems with air cooling that have made me think about it!! Right now in fact I have one machine that refuses to recognize that the cpu fan is up and running, so everytime it reboots I have to press the F1 key to make it finish booting. I can't remote into it or anything, I bought 2 new cpu fans, 1 as a spare and to get free shipping, so hopefully it is that and not the motherboard!

WINNING!!!

Well it is a challange.

I got it working again, but that was an expensive fix. I'll keep the old one as spare parts, some of it is still good. I just don't have time or energy to fool with it now.

I'm thinking of anoother change. I had originally bought the all-in-one controller-pump-reservoir. Since troubles began the reservoirs have been removed, byopassed and replaced with larger heavier duty external ones. Now i'm thinking i should remove the pump and put that where i can see it instead of it being inside of the black no see thru box.

That extra allinone was acually for one of the other yet to do systems. Maybe i'll change these two, buy separate controllers and pumps for the redesign, but use the remaining all in ones for the other systems, which will be smaller in the amount of components they kool, 1 gpu instead of 3.

Then again i may pull it all out and throw it out the window.

I am trying to visualize what you have...so you have 1 large water tank with 1 large controller card and 1 pump feeding several gpu's right now? Why not have 1 large tank and a separate pump and controller for each gpu, that way if a gpu has a problem it would shut just it down and not the whole system? Yes it might mean lots of holes for the different pumps going into the single tank, but you work in a marine boat store, they should have thru hull fittings you can adapt to work. You can then size the tank big enough to handle all the gpu's, with enough extra for future cpu's and gpu's too. You don't have to fill the tank full, just enough to keep what you have running cool. Eventually you could even do a project where you add a tank to give you more cooling if you need it. It's not like you have pc's all strung out around the house, they are all fairly confined in one small area. One question what does the controller card do? Does it speed up and/or slow down the flow of coolant to each component to keep the temps fairly steady?

Yes it is one controller with 3 fan and 3 temp sensors and 1 pump control. the pump sucks from the reservoir, a tube tank that is 240mm high by 80mm diamater. then it pushes the fluid into a 3-way splitter which goes into each gpu, comes out the other side and goes into a combiner, then the hot liquid flows thru each of 3 radiators one at a time, then back into the top of the reservoir.

Why not have 3 ? The all-in-one costs like 300 bucks, so it would end up adding another 600 bucks on top of the about 1200 bucks i already spent for each computers LCS system as it is, whci8h i don't think i could afford in the first place, thats why. You could buy seperate parts controller and pump but that is not much cheaper than the all in one. Then i'd ahve to ahve 3 seperate reservoirs. It would not be good to mix 3 pumps in one line with one reservoir for pressure purposes. if one pump died, the whole thing would go down as the other pumps could not push fluid thru a dead pump. You can run from one reservoir, but then it is tricky to balance pressure though all loops, you don't want to end up so that you get air in one and no fluid. That is jsut asking for more torubles.

Also think about it, how do you power off one gpu. there at this time is no boinc control to stop processing based on temp. you could not turn off 1 gpu out of 3, you have to shut the whole system down. If no fluid is flowing from a dead pump on one, it would not make much difference.

The contorller is in a black box, not an add on card. It monitors temps thru sensors and uses those temps to control the fan speeds, so low temsp the fans run slower and quiter. higher tmeps it spepds up the fans to blow more air thru the radiators, which also increases nosie. all the temsp upepr and lwoer limits are users settable so the ramp up/down can be adjusted. the pump you can set a flow speed in LPM. You want the liquid flowing fast to move the heat away, but too fast is not good either. It does vary it some and i forget on what, mine run now between 2.7 and 3.1 LPM. There is a little spinny thing in the tube to measure liquid flow.

You also have pressure drop when splitting, so the tubes are 10mm upto the splitter, then drop to 6mm size from the spliiter to the gpus and back out to the combiner. then they combine back to 10mm. There is a larger size. most people use 10mm only have 1 route, pump-gpu-cpu-tank.

At least things are flowing again, and the liquid is self-contained.

Back to gaming, its more fun shooting people than krunching numbers. Beside, for some reason i got the game version that every enemy has the face of my boss.

Just secured a loan to rebuild my driveway (in concrete), and as an add-on to the loan, finance a 4kwh plug-in battery pack for my Prius. This pack is robust enough for me to do my entire commute as all-electric.

A little cheaper than the EV I was trying to buy last January (~$5500), but in my Prius I will still be able to use the gas engine whenever the battery runs out.

Think of a Volt, with about 2/3s the electric range and at less than 1/2 the price.

WINNING!!!

That's cool Randy!!!! Is your Prius old enough to be able to take advantage of the recharging 'sun roof', the one that actually recharges the battery as the sun hits the panel?

It is COLD this morning!! Yesterday I had the a/c on in the car as it was in the lower 70's, this morning it is in the mid 40's here in the house!! The weatherman said it was only going down to 50F so I left the windows open, but it is C-O-L-D!!!

WINNING anyway though!!!

Sorry, but you're misinformed. There ARE certain Prius models that come with a solar roof option, but that does NOT recharge the battery in any way. The solar panels run a small fan that keeps the car interior cooler. You can really get the same benefit just by parking in the shade.

If the solar roof was in fact connected to the battery, then after a full day of charging you might get enough juice to drive about 500'. The solar roof is too small to be useful that way. Besides, I park in the basement where I can plug into a wall outlet.

The loan will take 5-7 business days to be deposited in my bank account, then I will be able to order the battery pack...don't know how long before it will arrive. Web site says DIY install should take a day or so...will want to hold that for a decent weekend, or maybe use some of my extra vacation time: My company just upped the max vacation time from 3 weeks to 5. Need to figure out what to do with two extra weeks of free time per year.

WINNING!!!

My old boss had a 1st gen Prius when I was working for him and I saw a website, that I can't find now, that had an add on solar panel that recharged the main battery as you drove along! Efficiency was not the point as the longer you had the car the more free energy you got. It was NOT advertised as a full battery recharger, just a sort of top off thing that was free when the sun was shining. After all free is free!

And John I think I am as I am now WINNING!!!

OK, you're talking about after-market add-ons, and for a GEN 1 (2000-2003) to boot! My Prius is a GEN II (2004-2009).

Even if available for my car (it just might be...), it's not really worth it.

Yes it was aftermarket but it was only like $300.00 bucks and the only reason my old boss didn't do it was because his wife said no!

Eye have a bad headache like, but it is just above my right eye. I left the office before noon today and have been laying in bed, sort of watching but mostly listening to tv with my eyes closed, one of those ken burns documentaries about prohibition. Anyway i did try to go to the eye doctor today, but they were closed for something, i could not read the sign. I can read everything fine with my left eye and my hand over my right eye. If i look at the screen with only my righte very thing is blurred, just blobs of color, i can't even make out mikey's avatar writing and the longer i keep that eye open the worse the headache gets. i'll have to try to make it through the weekend and go next week, the bossman will also have to get someone else to do paperwork, i can't anymore and noone else knows how to do it. I'm going to then tell him i need new lcd's and better lighting in there and that he has to pay for everything becuase of his laziness and other stupid employyes that can't do paperwork forcing me to do all the paperwork for 5 people has ruined my eye. See ya later.

I AGREE, better safe than sorry! Keith QUICK no thinking, no looking it up...who is the current President of the US? Who was President before him? What day of the week is it? What is your dads first name? Can you touch your fingers to your thumb on both hands quickly? If you can do and answer those quickly AND without thinking about them then the chance of it being a stroke diminish, but do NOT go away!

Keith,

I don't like what you're saying. I think you ought to get to ER and get checked out. This has a signs of a stroke written all over it.

Who thinks anyway, it is not a requirement where i work. Especially since the boss walks around all the time says "I Don't think...."

I'm not political and don't vote, I don't remember past Carter, Reagan or maybe guy with the name of some shruberry so I don't know the current president's full name, but from what every one else says his name must be A. Whole

I can't read the rest of what yoy said until i get new glasses, these only work at distances over 6 feet, my right eye won't focus in closer than that and my left eye only focus betwenn 1 and 3 feet. I'm thininking of two pairs, one for computer work sicnce i do that 10 hours a day plus and then one for watching tv or driving so i can see at a distance. 31 years of computer work takes it's toll on your eyes. Especially under not the best lighting conditions. I've almost gotten fired twice for asking for new light bulbs. Maybe i'll ask about laser eye surgery. If not them i'll ask about a multipupilrectumodomy and see if that will clear up my vision and get rid of the pain in my ... which somehow i don't think it will.

April 7th...earliest ever first day to cut the grass (except when I lived in SE Texas and sometimes had to cut grass year round). Thought I'd have to do it last week, but the heat wave went away and the grass slowed WAY down.

Oh well, it's nice out and somewhat cool.

I still have a company doing mine and they have done mine twice already, I had to call them to make sure they were coming the first time or I would have had to do it! I have a company to do the fertilizer etc too, that makes it grow fast and stay green longer. It also does it at the RIGHT TIME which was my problem, I can do it just not when it is supposed to be done, they do that!

Swiftmallard I hope you send SOME of that rain my way, my area is now over 3 inches behind this year so far.

Forecast calls for light rain early this morning, but a quick look at the radar map shows it's already moved off to the east. Looks like it's headed due East, not SE, so nothing for Mikey today.

I've had more than my share of eggs, before, during, and after breakfast today. None of them originated from a chicken.

I'm gonna have to go to the eye doctor today.

I can not really see anything clearly at arms length, where my monitors are with my glasses on oor off unless i close one or the other eye. left eye is better at 3 feet away with glasses off, right eye is only blurrs. With my glasses on its the reverse, left eye is all blurred right eye is somewhat good but things have bluers around the edges. long distance is ok with my glasses on. I've not done hardy any computer stuff all weekend, only the very necessary like paying a few bills and delteting emails.

I don't know how i'm gonna work this morning, i've got 14 plus orders to fill. i'm also gonna have t otell the boss i can do that then nothing else, then go to the doctors. There is no one else capable to do any paperwork in our company. I'm gonna tell him he has to make changes.

See U later maybe.

I couldn't see the doctor. He was still on his 4 day weekend. I do have an appointment next Tuesday.

Told the boss not as much was going to get done until then. Too bad, he has had 8 years to learn the new system. He has never written an invoice. So *&^% won't get done.

I worked today some, from 9am (not my usualy before 8am time. left at 3pm. All i did was my internet orders. it was a busy sales weekend, i had 12-15 to do. I usually have 6 boxed and done by 10am. Today I did some stuff and the 1st one got boxed at 11am. I was runngin rather slow. By 2 pm I was finished and decided that was all i was going to do. There was a pile, normally 3 hours of paperwork there on a good day, it is still there untouched. Maybe tomorrow i'll do some. I don't think i'll work full days all week.

Anyway internet sales are zoomin. i should be at 33% done, today i passed 50% of quotta.

Back to bed, my head aches.

ps I'm sleep-finger-walking in the dark.

Keith your big weekend is THIS weekend, you NEED to go to one of those walk-in clinics, if your insurance covers it, this doesn't sound good from afar!! BTW no mikey at the weekend, mrs. mikey has 'plans'! I was also looking at hte 1st weekend of May but my wifes boss said the ladies might have to double up at the hotel and they won't know until they actually get there. My wife works for the State of Virginia welfare folks reading cases looking for improper uses of the State, Fed and local monies. The 1st week of April they are in the Va. Beach area, they send several people to the bigger agencies or where they expect lots of problems. Anyway I was looking into a trip but something else is going on and the ladies may not get their own rooms like they usually do, so that is off for me too!

I can see. Well sort of.

I, without permission, went ahead and ordered two new LED monitors. I'll worry about getting yelled at later, and I don't care. Not expensive, 150 each. 22 in wiiiiideview. Side by side with my old 19 inch LCD, the pictures looked like day and night. So I swapped out both old LCDs, which do still have a use, but more on that later. The new ones are so bright I almost need to go out and get my sun glasses.
But the amazing thing is at the same resolution my old one was at 1280x1024 I can see with my glasses on and both eyes open, well sort of, it's still a little blur but it's better than not being able to read a single word, even with the text set to 125% or having only one eye open. I have it back to 100% now.

I Now on screen #2 the resolution to 1920x1080 and still see the small text. But running my spreadsheet i adjusted the text up to 120%, still with more room on screen, so i'm not squinting as much at it.

Maybe after Tuesday I'll adjust them back to normal size text on each.
