I successfully attached my internet router computer to malariacontrol.net but the first scheduler request gives the following response:

2006-07-01 10:59:22 [malariacontrol.net beta] Message from server: Your computer has only 97189888 bytes of memory; workunit requires 2810112 more bytes
2006-07-01 10:59:22 [malariacontrol.net beta] Message from server: No work sent
2006-07-01 10:59:22 [malariacontrol.net beta] Message from server: (there was work but your computer doesn't have enough memory)

The affected computer has 96 MBytes of RAM and with an operating system loaded, this requirement cannot be fulfilled, of course. Is it really mandatory to have 97189888 + 2810112 = 10000000 Bytes (~95 MBytes) of RAM for MalariaControl? This value appears to be some default set in the BOINC server's configuration. Wouldn't 90 MBytes or even less be sufficient?

If you don\'t have enough ram then the unit will swap all the time to hard drive space and the unit will take FOREVER to run and finish. There has to be a cut off someplace, unfortunately you are below the line for that machine. I see your current machine has plenty of ram. I THINK there are other Projects that have less ram requirements [url]http://distributedcomputing.info/projects.html[/url/] will show you all the currently active ones. Some take a ton of ram, some less.

Hi mikey,
did you look at the age of the question before typing your -helpful- answer ?

Oh yeah, but I figured if he still hadn\'t gotten a response he \"could\" be still wondering. I would have said never mind if it had been me and I still had not gotten answer.
