I have recently noticed that my jobs are running for a long time and are not completing. They stay at 0% progress until I abort them. Has anyone else see this? The current job is opt_2_-7621_5_69905315_0. |

The current job is opt_2_-7621_5_69905315_0. Hi Stuart No need to abort them, they ought to finish in +/- 2 hours (max) each. These wu\'s are commonly referred to as \'optimizer\' wu\'s and are executed under BOINC using a special mechanism for old type applications known as a wrapper. Due to this, they are unable to report their progress as other types of wu\'s do. There\'s a thread that explains the application and its goals etc. A THIRD science application for malariacontrol |

Thank you, Chris! This was very helpful and the other thread made sense. I will sit tight and let them run. |

I've had several of these optimiser wu's and even leaving them to run for 24+ hours doesn't seem enough time for them to complete - on a 2.6GHz processor that's crazy, nearly as bad as climate prediction! What's going on? |

What's going on? Your problem may be that you are running many Projects on your pc. That only lets each one run for a bit then it moves on to the next Project. Depending on the time you "owe" each Project due to deadlines for the different projects, you could be crunching for something other than Malaria for quite a while. If you read the full title of the unit it says 4 hours max, but that is 4 hours of straight thru crunching. There have been some OPT units that have been troublesome and you can turn them off in your settings so you don't get any more. Here is a link to another thread discussing the OPT units: https://malariacontrol.net/forum_thread.php?id=781 ____________ |

What's going on? Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the link presently. Sorry, but it didn't swap jobs at all while the optimiser wu was running, it ran from 0200 to 0800 the following day, at which point I aborted it, and the PC was idle except for BOINC. ____________ |
