Hey, when I complete Work Units, they just sit there in the program, saying "Ready to Report". I have to manually click 'update' in boinc for them to get sent off. I have my account set so that it is constantly connected to the network, but for some reason the results still do not get sent off until I click Update. I have tried other settings, like really small numbers like 0.02 (about 30 minutes) for this, but they still do not move until I manually Update. Is there something wrong? Thanks.

About my above post. When they finish they "upload", but they still just say "ready to report" after uploading. Is this normal?

Yes it is normal, what your computer has done so far is tell Malaria, or whatever Project, that you have successfully crunched the unit and there is no need to send it back out to someone else. When you need more work, or it is close to the deadline, your computer will automatically connect and return the actual results of your crunching, and get more work if needed.

That's normal behaviour to reduce the load on the scheduler. The results will automatically be uploaded the next time you request work. If no work is required from MCDN 24 hours after the first 'ready to report' was completed (or you get close to a result deadline) all results will be reported.

No, Mikey, you've got it backwards. The actual results of your crunching are uploaded immediately after crunching the task. You can see that by watching the Tasks tab and when you see a task hit 100% switch to the Messages tab which will tell you like "Starting upload of result xyz...". Then quickly switch to the Transfers page where you will see the the result file(s) getting tranferred unless they are very small files in which case they may go so fast you won't see them. That does NOT tell the project you've successfully crunched the unit and no need to send it out again. You can verify that by looking up the task status on your results page on the website... the Server State will be "In progress" and the Outcome will be "Unknown" until the result is reported.

If the task errors then there will be no result upload and the task will not get resent until you report the task.

Now getting back to the OP's question.... Yes, it is normal for tasks to be uploaded but not get reported immediately. The reason for delaying the reports is that it is more efficient for the project server to receive and store reports 3 or more at a time than 1 at a time.
